Who we are
Linger is a CrafTek product, operated from Bucharest, Romania. You can reach us any time at hello@linger.space.
When you join the waitlist
To let you join and to send you the occasional note about Linger, we store:
- Your email address — so we can reach you and so you only sign up once.
- A little technical context, only to keep the list clean and stop abuse: your browser's user-agent string, the page or source you arrived from, the time you signed up, and a one-way hash of your IP address (we never store the raw IP — only a salted, irreversible fingerprint used for rate-limiting and de-duplication).
We send a single welcome email and, later, occasional updates. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can leave whenever you like.
Your thoughts in the app
This is the heart of Linger, and the heart of this policy: your thoughts are yours alone.
- In the current early version, thoughts you write are kept on your own device, in your browser's local storage.
- As accounts arrive, thoughts will sync to your account with owner-only access — only you can read your own thoughts.
- A sealed option is planned, where thoughts are encrypted on your device so that not even we can read them.
- We do not sell your thoughts, and we never use your private content to target advertising. The private side of Linger carries no ads.
What the river reads
Linger's public side shows a calm mix of the world alongside people's thoughts. Some of it comes from outside sources, always credited and always a tap from the original:
- News & magazines (via their own public feeds) — a headline, a short extract of 125 characters at most, and a link out. We never reproduce the article.
- Hacker News — titles and links from its public API.
- Bluesky — public posts from a small set of curated feeds, shown with the author's name and a link to the original. These are kept only about a week, re-checked against the source, and removed when the author deletes them.
We show this to give the public river life and range — nothing more. We keep no profile of the people posting: we sort what a card is about, never who wrote it, and we never sell any of it. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in a credited, link-backed public feed (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)); a written assessment sits behind this. The current list of sources is maintained in the app.
How your river is shaped is up to you. It can gently lean toward the kinds of things you spend time on — only if you turn that on — and you can quiet any topic you'd rather not see. Muted topics simply don't appear in your river; it's your choice, reversible any time from your account. Linger never hides things on its own — re-ordering toward what you love is our gentle default, but hiding is only ever your hand.
And it has a glass door: in your account, under "what Linger knows about you," you can see, download, and erase what Linger has learned about you from how you use it. It's used only to shape your Linger — never sold, never shown to anyone but you.
If you posted something and would like it removed from Linger's public river, write to hello@linger.space with a link to the post and we will take it down — no questions asked.
Where your data lives
We keep things lean and use trusted providers as processors on our behalf:
- Supabase (hosted in the EU) — our database and backend.
- Resend — to deliver email (such as the waitlist welcome).
Cookies & tracking
The Linger website uses no third-party analytics, no advertising trackers, and no cross-site cookies. The app uses your browser's local storage purely to hold your own thoughts on your device — not to track you.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, or delete your data at any time. Unsubscribing removes you from the list; for anything else, email hello@linger.space and we'll take care of it. If you're in the EU/EEA or UK, you have the rights granted by the GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection). You may also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority — in Romania, the ANSPDCP.
How long we keep things
We keep waitlist data until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it. Emails that bounce are flagged automatically so we stop contacting them.
Children
Linger isn't directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page.
